Jack was born and raised in Des Moines and Sally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and met as a result of Jack’s dad, Cud (Cuthbert – but don’t ever call him that) working with Sally’s dad Ernie. They became lifelong friends.
After serving in the Navy at the end of WWII, Jack attended the University of Iowa and, in the final quarter of his senior year, lived in Ernie & Dory’s house where Jack and Sally met and fell in love.
Jack and Sally raised seven kids (Scott, Marty, Randy, Jack, Jamie, Missy and Chris) and as a result of Jack’s work as a sales manager for Old Spice moved quite a few times. The family lived in Miami, Des Moines, Glen Ridge, NJ, Dunwoody, GA, Memphis, Crystal Lake, IL and last but certainly not least, Bowling Green, Ohio where the Tractor Pulls are legend.
Jim was born in Grayson County, Virginia and Mildred in High Point, North Carolina.
Jim and Mildred raised their five kids (Jimmy, Debby, Karen, Sandy and Mark) on a farm in Davie County where the children learned the values of hard work and a love of countryside and animals large and small.
Jim drove eighteen wheelers nationwide but also maintained the farm in Davie (for many years growing tobacco – and to this day, at 88, raising cattle) as well as the original family farm on the Virginia/Carolina border just north of Sparta.
Dory and Ernie brought into the world Sally, Lynda and Rusty.
